MikroSkin™ Installation Guide

MikroSkin™ is a flexible architectural surface designed to wrap over existing flat surfaces without demolition.

Suitable For

  • Kitchen cabinetry
  • Splashbacks
  • Feature walls
  • Joinery panels
  • Furniture surfaces

Surface must be flat, dry, clean, and structurally sound before installation.

Tools Required

  • Sharp utility knife / Stanley knife
  • Straight edge
  • Pencil
  • Tape measure
  • 4mm nap roller
  • MikroSkin™ adhesive
  • Pressure roller or soft applicator
  • Microfiber cloth

1. Surface Preparation

Clean The Surface

Thoroughly clean the surface using a grease remover or sugar soap.

Remove all:

  • Dust
  • Oil
  • Grease
  • Silicone residue

Allow the surface to dry completely before proceeding.

Repair & Flatten

Fill any recessed joins, chips, screw holes, or damaged areas.

Sand smooth. MikroSkin™ performs best over flat, even surfaces.

2. Prime The Surface

Apply MikroSkin™ bonding primer evenly using a roller.

Allow primer to dry fully before adhesive application.

3. Apply Adhesive

Using a 4mm nap roller, apply an even coat of adhesive.

Avoid excessive build-up.

The adhesive will appear white initially.

Wait approximately 5–10 minutes until the adhesive becomes:

  • Clear
  • Tacky

Do not install while adhesive is still wet.

4. Measure & Cut

Roll out MikroSkin™ onto a clean flat surface.

Measure carefully and mark the rear side using pencil.

Cut using:

  • Utility knife
  • Sharp scissors
  • Straight edge

For best results, cut and install immediately after rolling out.

5. Install The Sheet

Carefully align the sheet before pressing into place.

Start from one side and work across gradually.

Once adhesive bonds, repositioning becomes difficult.

6. Apply Pressure

Using a pressure roller or soft applicator, firmly press the sheet into place.

Work outward to remove:

  • Air pockets
  • Pressure points

Ensure all edges are fully bonded.

7. Trim Excess

Trim edges carefully using a sharp blade.

Replace blades regularly for cleaner cuts.

Care & Maintenance

Clean using:

  • Microfiber cloth
  • Mild pH-neutral cleaner

Avoid:

  • Abrasive pads
  • Harsh chemicals
  • Bleach-based cleaners

Do not sand the finished surface.

Storage

Store rolled, flat, and indoors away from direct sunlight and heat.

Do not sharply fold or crease the sheets.
